The San Francisco Psychotherapy Training Center & Internships
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the week-long annual Conference in March as well as the Introduction to Control Mastery day intensive course. At that time they may introduce themselves to those involved in the Clinic and Training Center. Students are never turned away from workshops for lack of funds.
In October 2002, we fulfilled one of our biggest dreams when we opened our new Control Mastery Training Center in San Francisco's Presidio Park.
In addition, we established a low-fee psychotherapy clinic to serve the community. In the beginning, our work will be informed by Control Mastery theory as it stands today. However, we view our theory as a work in progress that will grow and expand as it assimilates new research findings.
Our mission Back to Top
Our mission is to create a center for the training of psychology interns in psychotherapy, in organizational development, in research on psychotherapy and related topics.
SFPRG Training Center seeks to train students from all disciplines including psychology interns, MFT’s, MSW’s, and psychological assistants. In general we will not accept students until after they have passed their comprehensive exams. On rare occasions, for extremely well qualified students who advance our organizational agenda, and who have previously worked in the field for 5 or more years, we will consider allowing them to enter as a pre-masters student.
Organizational Agenda:
We encourage applicants who advance our organizational agenda with respect to diversity and inclusion. In particular we look for students who demonstrate:
1- Strong interest in and previous exposure/experience with Control Mastery Theory
2- Interest in Researching or Teaching Control Mastery Theory
3- The ability to provide services to underrepresented populations through familiarity with different cultures, language skills, or life experiences that will inform their work.
4- Documented experience working with underrepresented populations such as: domestic minorities, immigrant populations, physically or cognitively disabled patients, alternative sexual or gender orientations, or other non-mainstream groups.
Our goal Back to Top
Our goal is to help students gain skill and sophistication in working in a variety of treatment modalities and with a variety of techniques, determined by client-focused and case-specific assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy process, and outcome research.
The training program is comprehensive and exciting. We offer components in adult, adolescent, child, family and couple therapy. If you have interest in participating, please contact Jessica Broitman at (510) 845-0533, and send us your referrals!
We offer over 100 hours each week of low-fee psychotherapy to the community with our ten wonderful interns. The interns will receive supervision from our esteemed colleagues (see list below) . After an intake fee of $50, individual sessions will begin at $30-90 per session. We are open for referrals!; leave a message on the clinic line (415) 677-7946 ext 1 in San Francisco.
